The high fertilizer demand and rising retail prices too high to be an opportunity for chemical fertilizer organic fertilizer as an alternative fertilizer. In Bantul, the organic fertilizer manufacturers more and more because of market demand tends to rise.

Suyoto, Chairman of the Group Ngudi Mandiri, one of the producers of organic fertilizers on Monday (20/12/2010) says organic fertilizer production process takes 1-3 months. Monthly output to 50 tons. Their raw materials in the form of livestock manure purchased for IDR 600,000 per truck.

“We believe demand for organic fertilizer will continue to rise along with awareness of farmers. Besides, the highest rise in retail prices or the HET will be a consideration for farmers to use chemical fertilizers, “he said.

Self Ngudi group began to produce fertilizer in 2007 after getting training from Gadjah Mada University agriculture student. At first, the raw material of fertilizer using waste from Bantul market. Its production is also still on a small scale that is 50 kg to 400 kg.

Initially produced fertilizer has not been commercialized, but given free of charge to farmers. The move is intended as a promotion to introduce their products to farmers and also test the quality of fertilizers produced.
